Which one of these jobs holds the most prestige according to the public?
A Physician Assistant or Medical Technologist (Clinical Lab Scientist).
As someone who started out as a MED TECH & became a PA, I can tell you almost NO ONE even knows what a med tech is. The lab is pretty isolated. It is a great job, but not really a good "prestige" comparison to a PA. I really love being a PA--it was a nice change to get out of the lab & really do medicine. I get plenty of respect as a PA, but like I said, no one really knew what I did as a med tech & I was a blood banker/donor center MT so I had more public contact than most MTs. Plus as a MT, the Docs, the nurses and the clerks all yelled at us for not having something done fast enough.
