Prestige Med

Med School or Nursing School?
Being a physician you have the prestige and the accomplishment. You also have the good income. Med school also takes longer to complete.
Nursing seems less stress full and less years. Some nurses make the same income as some physicians.
Does it come down to the love/devotion of the job?
Please advice. Thanks!
1] Rns make as much as some doctors? Are you kidding? Unemployed doctors, maybe.
Even nurses with advanceed degrees don't come close - a nurse practitioner may do well, but not as well as a doc.
2] nursing less stressful - ha! Only when you aren't at work. Nurses are trained to look for all the same problems, and to know the treatment/doses too - we are the backup, after the MD and the pharmacist.
Plus, a patient thinks nothing of asking a nurse for multiple items, one at a time, but would neverask the doc for them.
I have had patients call me into their room to pour them a glass water [ not a disabled or in great pain patient, either ] - when she had six visitors who could have done it, and I had 19 other patients to care for..
3] Who do you think finds the problems 90% of the time? NURSES! Simply because the nurse is there, at the bedsides of the patients.
4] nurses call code blues 99% of the time - and start the code, too.
[ again, because they are there ].
5] RNs save the intern's or residents' butts many many times - before the wrong treatment or dose is given.
6] love/devotion - if you are not a people person, you won't succeed as a nurse. But some MDs seem to be hateful and still make good money.
7] MDs do work worse hours overall than nurses - but they are compensated better too.
