Actually this is a very good question because the RV world is and will continue to change.

It would all depend on what kind of activity you do and your budget. I would recommend a trailer type configuration because you are at a disadvantage in a motor home if you don't have another vehicle and then you have the cost and upkeep on two machines.

What kind of pull vehicle do you have? Are you going to buy a truck to pull your trailer or a trailer that your truck can pull. Expect pulling a trailer to affect your vehicle performance and mileage. No point in having a trailer if you can pull it with your truck or if you can't afford the extra gas.

Cost? It is generally cheaper to buy a year old camper from an individual if you can. Let them take the first years depreciation. Lots of them out there cause of the economic crisis and gas prices.

How often are you planning on using your camper.
Don't tie up too much money if you are going to use it for 1 week a year.

How comfortable is the driver at pulling a trailer? If it is going to drive you crazy pulling a camper, still with a smaller one.

Do you require a full bathroom? Decide if you need a full kitchen with Refrig and Micro.

Then just pick the one that fits your personal needs and capabilities.
